Church of the Holy Trinity in Salaparuta
The Church of the Holy Trinity of Salaparuta was built following the terrible earthquake in the Belice Valley in 1968 which destroyed the ancient town of Salaparuta.
The project is the work of the architect Vito Corte and is characterized by a simple line and linear. The characterizing element of the building is the large churchyard that precedes the church.
Inside the church there are several works found from the rubble of the earthquake: the wooden statues of the Madonna and the Risen Christ from the end of the century. XVIII works by Girolamo Bagnasco; the wooden group of the Madonna del Piraino by Vincenzo Genovese from the 19th century, which re-proposes the iconography reproduced on the miraculous stone, kept in the Mother Church.
