Salemi Museum Center
The Polo Museale di Salemi, housed in the former Jesuit College, includes the Civic Museum, divided into different sections: art sacred, Risorgimento and archaeological.
The sacred art section collects various works of art that were found in the churches destroyed by the 1968 earthquake. Of particular value are: the "Madonna della Candelora" by Domenico Gagini and the "Madonna with child" by Laurana carved in the alabaster of Partanna.
The Risorgimento section & nbsp; preserves documents from the history of the uprisings of 1848 and the Enterprise of the Thousand 'Unification of Italy.
The archaeological section exhibits finds ranging from Prehistory to the Middle Ages from excavations conducted in Contrada Pitrazzi, Monte Polizo, Mokarta, in the historic center and in San Miceli. < br> Also part of the Polo Museale di Salemi is the museum of the mafia and workshop of legality.
