Church of the Rosary of Sambuca di Sicilia
The Church of the Rosary of Sambuca di Sicilia is located in the northern part of the town, in the Vquartiere Saraceno.
It was founded by a Jesuit and built between 1554 and 1664. It is said that in the early years In the sixteenth century, the Jesuits, to dispel popular beliefs that saw the area infested with evil spirits, painted an image of the Madonna della Scala on the wall of an aedicule, around which the miraculous cult gradually spread. The faithful, ignited by great fervor for the many miracles obtained, collected many alms with which a church dedicated to Maria Santissima del Rosario was built, in place of the chapel.
Of particular value is the wooden door of the church dating back to the beginning of the 19th century, dedicated to San Domenico di Cusman, creator of the “Rosary”, and finely sculpted.
