Theater of Sambuca di Sicilia
The L'Idea Theater in Sambuca di Sicilia was built in 1848 at the behest of a group of bourgeois art lovers. In 1886 the theater was acquired by the Municipality and at the end of the nineteenth century it was restored and decorated in Art Nouveau style.
A white marble staircase leads to the entrance of the theater enriched by an elegant glass and wrought iron dome. You then reach the atrium on the left of which is the ticket office and from which there are three staircases, one main and two side, from which one enters the stalls and boxes respectively. Internally it has the classic horseshoe shape with a flattened dome vault. Worthy of note are the liberty-style illustrations frescoed by master Domenico Ferrara and the grandiose Bohemian glass chandelier.
