Rural Village of Cassibile
The Rural Village of Cassibile is the oldest part of the locality. It is believed that the rural village of Cassibile is the most consistent example of the remains, which still exist and can be visited, of the ancient peasant world. Inside the ancient village there were the Church, the farmers' houses, the stables, the warehouses for agricultural tools, the granaries, the millstones for grapes, olives and wheat and then various land works, inns and taverns, a carabinieri barracks and a medical-hospital garrison.
A turret called Marquis Tower was also raised in the village, which was used to spot alleged dangers such as the raids of brigands, a phenomenon that affected all of Southern Italy in the second half of 1800.
Today of the rural village of Cassibile the Church of the Marquis Loffredo, the Tower of the Marquis, the entrance arch to the village and the buildings remain visible. The rest of the Borgo was destroyed during the Second World War or demolished due to its unusability.
