The Palace of the former prison of Castelbuono, better known as Banca di Corte, overlooks the central Piazza Margherita.
It was built in the first half of the seventeenth century, was used as a city palace, later housed the Banca di Corte and then became a Bourbon prison, a function it retained until 1960. Today it is home to a museum and some administrative rooms of the Municipality.
Of particular value is the ancient clock placed at the top of the building. It is a mechanical clock dating back to 1885, made by the Isidoro Sommaruga company of Milan, a company that won the bronze medal at the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1878.
