Dieri complex in Cavagrande del Cassibile
The rock complex of Dieri , also known as the Byzantine village or "king tri pirate" caves , located within the Nature Reserve oriented Cavagrande del Cassibile , is a troglodyte type rock complex , that is a series of caves presumably built by the Sicilians between the century. XI and IX BC
This archaeological site located in correspondence with the "Monzello di Pietre" district, can be reached by a narrow path carved into the rock. It consists of a series of caves dug into the limestone overhanging the quarry, caves connected to each other by stepped tunnels arranged on six different parallel levels. An unassailable defensive system both from the plateau and from the valley floor.
In front of the Dieri complex stands another rock known as the Briganti Cave.
