Ferla is a small village, inserted among the most beautiful in Italy, nestled in the Iblei Mountains and surrounded by olive, carob, almond and vineyard trees.
The surrounding area bears witness to its ancient history. Inhabited since the archaic era, it passed under the dominion of the Greeks, Byzantines and Normans.
It was destroyed by the 1963 earthquake and rebuilt in the style of the time, the Sicilian Baroque. The ruins of the medieval districts tell its ancient history, the precious Baroque architecture testifies to its rebirth.
Agricultural center of excellence, Ferla is renowned for its olive oil from the Iblei Mountains, in particular for the variety scorzone, for the truffle of the Iblei, also known as the black truffle of Ferla, and for the dairy products and sausages.
Traditional sweets of the place are the Cuddureddi stuffed with walnuts and honey, and the Cassatelle with ricotta , cinnamon and egg yolk.
