Floridia is located in the fertile Anapo valley, in the Syracuse hinterland.
The history of Xiridia, today's Floridia, is very ancient. The first settlements date back to the Sicilian period, in the 14th-10th century. BC, as evidenced by some burials found in Contrada Tabaccheddu. In this territory the various dominations that have characterized the history of the island have followed one another but, unfortunately, due to the many wars and destructions, little has survived to the present day.

Floridia has a valuable historic center dotted with monuments in Sicilian Baroque style.
Of particular interest are also the large karst caves, the Necropolis from the Thapsos age, the Cava Rivettazzo Gorge and other sites of archaeological and naturalistic interest .
