Path of the Hundred Stairs in Melilli
The Path of the Hundred Stairs in Melilli is an ancient path that, in the past, was crossed daily by peasants and "pirriaturi", that is the miners who worked in the tuff quarries, and in ancient times connected the town to the fields and to the Pirrera di Sant 'Antonio.
Located on the outskirts of the ancient center of Melilli, the Path of the Hundred Stairs has never represented just a simple crossing to facilitate entry to the town, but one of the most authentic custodians of that intangible cultural heritage of the town iblea. This path, made of white Melilli stone, is very ancient and testifies to the human presence in the area since the Bronze Age.
