Archaeological Museum of Palazzolo Acreide
The Archaeological Museum , named after the archaeologist Gabriele Judica , is located in Palazzolo Acreide at the Palazzo Cappellani and collects the finds of the ancient Greek city of Akrai .
The Gabriele Judica Archaeological Museum is spread over two floors, each of which consists of various rooms perfectly set up to deal with different themes that are linked to the city of Palazzolo Acreide and to the ancient Akrai.
Inside the museum there are finds dating back to prehistoric, Greek and Roman times.
The prehistoric finds can be traced back to the earliest settlements that populated this area several millennia ago. There are several finds from the Greek era belonging to the city of Akrai, founded by the Greeks, of which several indelible references have remained. Finally Palazzolo Acreide was also controlled by the Romans, in the museum various testimonies of that era are collected.
Of considerable interest are the numerous vases and ceramics brought to light in excellent condition, to the point of still showing all their details today and fine finishes.
