Montevergini Civic Gallery in Syracuse
The Civic Gallery of Contemporary Art of Syracuse , located in the historic center of Ortigia , is located in the former convent of Montevergini , whose origins date back to the fourteenth century.
In the church, as in the wings of the former Benedictine monastery, numerous works of contemporary art are exhibited.
The Gallery houses works by Betty Bee, Pier Paolo Campanini, Miltos Manetas, Brigitte Niedermaier, Italo Zuffi and others, constantly feeding the catalog with exhibitions, including personal ones. The spaces of the former convent are not used exclusively for exhibition purposes, but host theatrical works or musical events, book presentations and events that make the gallery a point of reference for Syracusan cultural life.
