Leonardo Da Vinci and Archimedes Museum in Syracuse
The Archimedes and Leonardo Museum , located in Syracuse , presents the reproduction of the models of the Tuscan inventor and the Syracusan genius.
The patron family Niccolai Artisans of Florence, has made a faithful reproduction of Leonardo's machines, all functioning in the smallest details and reconstructed with special procedures. The reproduced models were rigorously made of fine wood, metal and cordage of the time. The machines have the peculiarity of being interactive, a fundamental aspect to arouse in the visitor not only an intense perceptual and cognitive experience, but also a sensorial one. A panel with an explanation in multilingual is affixed near each machine.
The Museum houses an entire section dedicated to the great mathematician Archimedes, an absolute novelty in the world cultural panorama. There are several inventions exhibited by the mythical Archimedes, just to name a few the Libra, the Spiral, the Cochlea.
The laboratory of Leonardo "W Leonardo" has also been set up inside the museum, in which it is possible to assemble some of the machines and experiment with the construction of some models on display.
Inside the exhibition it is possible to view the documentary on the life and works of Leonardo.
