Ancient Church of San Paolo in Solarino
The ancient Church of San Paolo in Solarino is an early Christian building located near the Pozzo di San Paolo and is one of the sites of interest known as Pauline places because they are linked to the cult and tradition of the Patron Saint Saint Paul Apostolo.
Following the earthquake in the Val di Noto in 1693, only the ruins remain today of the ancient building: the floor and the base of the northern and western walls.
Following the surveys carried out, it was observed that under the floor there was a second walking surface and that under the latter, in correspondence with the step that led from the hall to the presbytery, there was a wall structure, probably a mass grave for the burial of corpses.
