Sublime kiss square in Fiumefreddo di Sicilia
Piazza Bacio Sublime in Fiumefreddo di Sicilia is a romantic glimpse of Sicily. The square is actually named after Francesco Hayez, the artist who created the famous painting The Kiss, but is now known by everyone as Piazza Bacio Sublime.
It is a particular square from which you can enjoy a splendid view of Etna and whose flooring shows the faces of two lovers kissing. This drawing is placed in a very specific position: it is perfectly aligned with Etna: a kiss at the foot of Etna.
A stele placed in the square carries the message: A kiss at the foot of Etna. Love is the perfect gesture, the right word, the sublime kiss. It is possible to place cameras and smartphones on this stele to immortalize your kiss at the foot of Etna.
The work, according to what its designers said, is a tribute to the city of Fiumefreddo di Sicilia which, due to its privileged location at the foot of the volcano, it seems to be kissed by Etna.
