Garufi Palace in Forza D'Agrò
Palazzo Garufi Schipilliti in Forza D'Agrò is a typical example of a Forza manor house.
It was built in the 17th century and was the residence of the wealthiest family in the town, the Garufi. In the 20th century it was purchased by the Schipilliti family.
The ground floor housed the warehouses for storing wine, oil and all the products coming from the Garufi fiefdom. The upper floor, used as a residence, features valuable paintings and frescoes with decorative elements of naturalistic inspiration, typical of the Art Nouveau style.
Of particular value is the ceiling of one of the three rooms on the upper floor: a painted ceiling located in a of the three upper rooms of the former Palazzo Garufi, now Schipilliti: on a blue background where insects of considerable size fly, four large rose windows stand out, connected to each other by intertwined pseudo-railings on which climbing plants wrap and birds perch.
