Mauro Palace in Forza D'Agrò
Palazzo Mauro in Forza D'Agrò is an ancient building, now reduced to a state of ruin, which stands out for its large size which dominates the valley below.
It was built in the 17th century and was the main residence of the Marquises Mauro. It was inhabited until the end of the 19th century. It was later used as a warehouse. In the winter of 1995/96, following a landslide, it partially collapsed.
The building is characterized by the series of large architraved windows located on the upper floor, with protruding windowsills and a balcony supported by long and thick shaped brackets, and for a large portico, with two large corner arches and equipped with a terrace above, on the ground floor. The entrance door of the house is located on the side wall, compared to the extended facade.
In a room adjacent to the building, parts of an ancient oil mill are kept; millstones, large wooden screws and metal presses.
