Church of San Pancrazio in Giardini Naxos
The Church of San Pancrazio in Giardini Naxos is dedicated to the first bishop of Sicily, killed by the pagans a few years after his arrival in Taormina from Antioch. The church was built in 1957, and later, in 1961, it was flanked by the statue of the Saint. The statue was erected at the precise point of the bishop's landing, creating a base with incised episodes from the life of the saint. The interior of the church is characterized by works of considerable workmanship by local artists such as the representation of San Pancrazio V, a wooden representation of Pancrazio and twelve representations in terracotta bowls of the stations of the Via Crucis.
