Vignazza Tower a Giadini Naxos
The Torre Vignazza in Giardini Naxos was built in the late medieval period. The castle of Schisò and the fort which today is used as an Archaeological Museum belong to the same period. Today Torre Vignazza is part of the archaeological park of Giardini Naxos.
The tower has a quadrangular construction with 3 elevations. Its function was to control the southern stretch of the coast, giving the first warning in case of danger. The guardian of the tower had the task of firing a warning shot to stop the boat and to be able to recognize it.
