Church of San Filippo D'Agira in Limina
The Church of San Filippo D'Agira in Limina is a small place of worship dedicated to the protector San Filippo d'Agira. The church overlooks a large terrace which offers a suggestive panoramic point over the Agrò valley.
The gabled façade is delimited laterally by two pilasters. In the center there is a portal with a pointed arch. Next to the building stands the bell tower.
Inside the church there is a statue of the protector Saint Philip of Agira represented with the Gospel in his left hand, symbol of the exorcists, and the blessing right hand raised to the height of the face. The dark skin color is not linked to his African origins but to the indelible mark of the black carbon left by the demons he chased back into the flames of hell. The most expressive part of the statue are the eyes which were once made of glass and were then replaced with the current ones.
