Savoca City gate
The Gate of the City of Savoca is one of the two access gates to the city and dates back to the time when Savoca was surrounded by a large wall.
It was built in the 12th century , a time in which the Normans surrounded the city of Savoca with large walls. The wall was equipped with two access gates, one at the southern end, in the San Giovanni district, and the other at the north end, in the San Michele district. Today only the gate of the San Michele district remains visible and appears as a monumental pointed arch in sandstone.
