Ruins of Synagogue of Savoca
The Synagogue of Savoca is an ancient building of worship reduced to a state of ruin. It is located near the Church of San Michele and the fourteenth-century Palazzo della Curia.
The year of construction of the building of worship is not known but it is certain that it already existed in 1408. In the Middle Ages, it was the synagogue of the Jews of Savoca. In 1470, it was confiscated on the orders of the Viceroy of Sicily, ordering that the synagogue be built in another place. inagoga became a civil residence for centuries; in the 20th century it was used as a stable. Today it is in a state of ruin.
