Arab Necropolis of Taormina
The Arab Necropolis of Taormina is located a few hundred meters from the north gate, along the provincial road that climbs from Capo Taormina to the city center.
Located outside the walls that defended the village of Taormina, the necropolis was built between the 9th and 11th centuries and has symmetrical cells placed one on top of the other. What it is possible to see today are the remains of a larger building that extended towards the north-east, placing itself between the current remains and the underlying church of San Pietro fuori le mura.
