Museum of Multiethnic Museum Instruments in Alcamo
The Museum of Multiethnic Musical Instruments of Alcamo was born thanks to the perseverance of Fausto Cannone and the desire of this teacher, poet and songwriter, to leave a sign of his love for his city: thanks to his generous donation, it was possible to realize, at the former church of San Giacomo de Spada, the first ethnomusical museum in Sicily.
The museum houses 202 instruments that come from Thailand to Tibet, from New Guinea to South America, from Polynesia to China from Australia to Argentina, from South Africa to various European states. Most of them are poor tools, made with parts of plants or animals, but there are also valuable handicrafts.
