Rocca Palace in Alcamo
The Rocca di Alcamo Palace is considered one of the most important buildings in the city.
It was built in 1629 by the noble Salvatore Rocca. Today the building is used partly as a rectory of the Church of Saints Paul and Bartholomew, partly as an orphanage, and partly as a civil residence.
The façade is made of broken stone pieces and has shelves and portals in carved stone. The main door has a very solid travertinoid limestone portal and is surmounted by a smooth pediment, cornices and an open tympanum that ends with two volutes. The façade is surmounted by a toothed cornice.
From the gate located on the north side of the building you enter a magnificent and large garden with palm trees, lemons, oranges, cedars of Lebanon and two fountains; one has an octagonal shape, with a gush and an iron dome in the center of it, and the second, on the other hand, is round with a small gush and columns supporting an iron dome.
