The Baglio is a typical construction of the Custonaci area.
The Mangiapane baglio is the oldest in Custonaci and dates back to the 16th century.
The Mangiapane baglio has all the typical characteristics of a baglio: a main entrance from which both animals and carts for the transport of tools and goods can enter; a central area, the courtyard, surrounded by a series of buildings, such as the sharecroppers' homes and various warehouses.
Today the Mangiapane baglio is used as a home and agricultural warehouse.
There are numerous other baglios in the area where it is possible to observe the same characterizing elements: Baglio Cofano, Baglio Cesari, Baglio Rizzo, Baglio Castelluzzi, Baglio Cammarata, Baglio Messina, Baglio Barone, Baglio Scaccina, Baglio Cantarre, Baglio Catalano, Baglio Vecchio, Baglio Poma and Villa Zina.
