Sanctuary of Maria Santissima of Custonaci
Sanctuary of Maria Santissima di Custonaci , imposing in its size, stands in the center of the town.
The sanctuary has sixteenth-century origins, built on a previous chapel of the Virgin Mary of the Conception, has undergone several changes and expansions over the decades.
The sanctuary is surrounded by a parvis paved with small river pebbles that form unique designs with floral and geometric motifs. The facade has a tufa rose window with colored glass.
The internal layout is a Roman cross with three different naves divided by masonry columns painted with marble effects from which rise pointed arches that recall the Gothic styles. The high altar, in Baroque style, was built in 1627 by workers from Trapani, with inlaid and polychrome Custonaci marble.
