Monument to Thousand in Marsala
The Monumento ai Mille is a building dedicated to the Garibaldini for landing in Marsala , located in front of the seafront of the city of Marsala.
After some projects which remained unfinished due to various vicissitudes , the realization of this work consists of the base designed by the architect Emanuele Mongiovì and other compositional elements designed by the architect Ottavio Abramo among which, on the upper floor, the sterns of Piedmont and Lombardo stand out, the two steamers with which the Garibaldi's soldiers landed in the port of Marsala.
The Thousand are remembered on the metal plates, with their names engraved on the two sides, from which light, air and wind filter in transparency against the sky.
