Museum of Marine Activities in Riserva dello Zingaro
The Museum of Marine Activities , located inside the Riserva dello Zingaro , is housed in an ancient marfaraggio, a complex of buildings for the processing of tuna.
L he former factory today preserves the historical evidence of the tuna fishing activities. In the exhibition spaces we find nets and pots, used for slaughtering, but also photographic images that illustrate how bluefin tuna fishing was a ritual and an honor, but also a duty and survival.
The museum also features a faithful reproduction in scale of a trap and extensive documentation on local fish species.
The Museum meets at the north entrance of the Zingaro Nature Reserve. Together with the Naturalistic Museum, the museum remains open to the public all year round.
