Capo San Vito of San Vito Lo Capo
The Lighthouse is one of the symbols of San Vito lo Capo , together with the Sanctuary and its splendid beaches.
It was commissioned by the Bourbons to make navigation for boats safer passing through and inaugurated on 1 August 1959. At night its light reaches over twenty nautical miles, and for this reason, it is one of the most important in Sicily. The walk up to the very high tower 43 meters high is suggestive. Near the lighthouse there is a circular tower called the Torrazzo, probably used in ancient times to defend against pirate attacks.
