Nasi Villa in Trapani
The Villino Nasi , also known as Casina Nasi , is a historic building in Art Noveau style located in a thin strip of land, between Torre di Ligny and the island of the Colombaia, in front of the Scoglio Palumbo.
Nunzio Nasi, who lived between 1850 and 1935, was Minister of Posts in the Pelloux government and Minister of Education in the Zanardelli government, he chose to build his home on this suggestive land called Lo Scoglio which he bought from the State Property.
The building is in rustic ashlar and is accessed through a long avenue. The façade is marked by corner pillars, with two protruding wings ending with decorations. The interior is furnished with period furniture and there is a bust of Nasi by Ettore Ximenes. In the barren garden surrounded by the sea there is also a small Art Nouveau chapel. An inscription on the external wall of the Villino shows a poem dedicated to Nasi by Tito Marrone.
Currently the building is the seat of the Marine Biology Institute of the local Free University.
