Excelsior mill in Valderice
The Excelsior Mill is an important example of industrial archaeology.
It was built in 1904 by order of Vincenzo Gervasi and was intended for the grinding of wheat. The factory was designed by the Italian-Swiss company Fratelli Buhler, which also supplied the cast iron, larch and steel machinery that is still present inside today.
The building has a façade with Art Nouveau decorations.
The interior has various rooms covered with wooden trusses and tiles, and in some of them various tools and machinery are kept.
