The art of ceramics in Burgio was born thanks to the variety of raw materials available in the area including hard stone and terracotta. Since the 16th century, the presence of these raw materials has attracted a group of potters from nearby Caltagirone who have transferred their art to Burgio. This has favored the birth of numerous artisan workshops that over the centuries have given life to terracotta productions with new and typical designs.
There are numerous workshops in Burgio where local artists work terracotta by hand, making products that are exported to the world.
