The Sciacca and Ribera strawberry is aromatic and very fragrant, has globose, small and intense red fruits. It is said that the small strawberries grown in this area of ​​the Agrigento area derive from seedlings brought to Sicily by veterans returning from the First World War. Some Sicilian soldiers collected some wild plants in the undergrowth of somewhere in the Alps and replanted them in the vigorous Sicilian lands. The strawberries resisted and acclimatized quite well, giving rise to a local ecotype that populated the Verdura valley.
