Savoy cake
Dessert
Savoia cake is a historical dessert of Sicilian origins, made in honor of the annexation of Sicily to the Kingdom of Italy. It is said that it was prepared by the Benedictine nuns of Catania, who, when inventing this cake, included Piedmontese hazelnuts among the ingredients, in honor of the House of Savoy. The Savoy cake is made up of layers of biscuit that alternate with a soft and delicious cream made with 3 types of chocolate and hazelnuts, all covered with a chocolate glaze.
