Monte Cavallo Woods in Cianciana
The Monte Cavallo forest is a wooded area of approximately 800 hectares rich in eucalyptus, Aletto pines, common pines, carob trees, poplars, cypresses and dwarf palms.
From the forest you can enjoy a splendid panorama of the Platani valley and, in the distance, it is also possible to see a glimpse of the sea.
Inside the park there is an equipped area, near Mount Picciunaru, with tables, benches, barbecues, fountains, a bowling green and of bathrooms for disabled people.
There are numerous natural bodies of water, caves and ancient rural houses of Burgiseppe which make this place very suggestive.
Of particular charm are the Monte Cavallo caves: Cavallo cave, Zubbio cave, Mayor cave and the Ghiaccera cave, so called because it corresponds to the opening of the cave, due to a play of air currents and pressure and due to the presence of water, a temperature range of several degrees is recorded. In the bowels of these caves, which extend for hundreds of metres, there are splendid underground lakes with clear, crystalline waters.
The park can be accessed via three entrances: from the crushing plant, from the Li panni bridge, and bitter water.
