Feliciana Library in Naro

The Feliciana Library in Naro houses a vast and valuable collection of volumes and monoscripts. It is located in the former Convent of San Francesco.
It was founded in the second half of the 17th century by the Franciscan fathers Melchiorre and Baldassare Milazzo. It owes its name to Felicia Milazzo, who in 1705 made an important donation to purchase works in Rome and Paris. The precious book collection, which numbers over 13,000 volumes, includes numerous works from various convents and the numerous monastic orders present in Naro: 23 incunabula, 400 sixteenth-century books, 56 manuscripts, works of fiction, literature, science, history, music, ... The most valuable volume kept in the library is the parchment codex dating back to the 12th-13th century Breviarum Typis Gothicis-Pergamena Charta, in Gothic book script illuminated in gold decorated with friezes and allegorical drawings, the work of copyists of the Florentine school.
