State: CT - Area: Catania and Etna

The village of Aci Sant'Antonio is located in the heart of the Etna area.
The first historical information dates back to 1169, when the village of Greek origin Jachium was destroyed by a violent eruption of the Etna. In 1639, in this territory, the Borgo del Casalotto was born and fought for years to obtain autonomy from the great Aquilia. In the 18th century Aci Sant'Antonio reached its maximum development and great fame thanks to the art of the Sicilian Cart, an art brought to the highest level by the internationally renowned master Domenico Di Mauro who died in 2016.
