State: CT - Area: Catania and Etna

Aci Trezza is a small village on the Ionian coast, a center of ancient fishing tradition and a setting for the "Malavoglia" of Verga.
It was founded at the end of the seventeenth century as a maritime landing place for the fief of the nobleman Stefano Riggio from Palermo. It is the place where Etnean eruptions began before the eruptive theaters moved westwards.
