Alia is a small village located on the south-western slope of the Madonie, known by the name of Città Giardino. Its origins are ancient: findings in its territory lead us to suppose that the area was inhabited since from Roman times. The current inhabited area dates back to Arab domination: in the fiefdom of Lalia, the hamlets of Yhale', Gurfa, Ottumarrano em> and Kharse.
Its historic center preserves monuments and museums of particular interest, in its territory there are the Grotte della Gurfa, a rare and spectacular example of rock burial caves.
