Oratory of the Rosary in Petralia Sottana
The Oratorio del Rosario is one of the places of worship of Petralia Sottana . It was built in 1671 at the behest of Don Carlo Di Maria. Of particular value is the altarpiece housed in the wooden altar painted in a marble shape with the ciborium with twisted columns, cherubs and gilded decorations. The altarpiece is a copy of an original painting by Anton Van Dyck commissioned in 1623 by the Compagnia dei Sacchi of Santa Maria del Rosario and completed in 1628, still preserved today in the oratory of the Rosario di San Domenico in Palermo.
Among the noteworthy works kept in the church are: a canvas depicting the Annunciation, a late seventeenth-century work of popular taste; a popular marble statue of the Virgin and Child; a small choir; majolica with geometric and floral figures.
