Legend of Fosso di Franco
In Sant'Angelo di Brolo, not far from the remains of the church of San Giuseppe, there is a place known as Fosso di Franco.
The name given to this place comes from a popular tale: it is said that in these lands, used for the cultivation of mulberry trees for the production of silkworms, a slave of Ethiopian origin called Franco worked.
The young man, taking advantage of the master's absence, having noticed some gold material, he extracted it and placed the material in which he thought the gold was found on piles of wood obtained from mulberry trees. Although the slave had actually found gold material, his actions unleashed the wrath of the master who decided to shoot him and bury him in those places which today, in memory of what happened, are known as Fosso di Franco em>.
