Trabia: city where spaghetti was born

Various historical sources attest that Trabia is the homeland of spaghetti.
The Arab geographer Al Idrisi in some documents compiled for King Roger II of Sicily in 1154 writes:To the west of Termini there is the town of Trabia, an enchanting site, rich in perennial waters and mills, with a beautiful plain and vast farms in which itrìya are manufactured in such quantities as to supply, in addition to the towns of Calabria, those of the Muslim and Christian territories, where large loads are shipped. These documents attest that in the village of Trabia already in medieval times, thread-like pasta called Itriya, ancestor of spaghetti, was produced.
