Church of Sant'Antonio Abate in Delia
The Church of Sant'Antonio Abate in Delia is an important building of worship in the village located in the old neighborhood known as the Jewish quarter.
The date of construction of the church is not known but it is certain that it existed before 1609, the year in which it was mentioned in the register of the Diocese of Agrigento. The current building was built between 1740 and 1763 based on a design by Giovanni Garallo. An institute for the education of children was built next to the church in 1926 and is still managed today by the Franciscan nuns of the Lord of the City.
The simple gabled façade, in carved stone, is closed by three pilasters of the same material. The entrance portal is flanked by two further pilasters which support an entablature and is surmounted by a small empty aedicule and a rose window. The building is flanked by a bell tower whose belfry was built in 1922 by the Rosselli brothers from Favara.
The interior, with a single nave, has an imposing central apse and is decorated. Its interior is decorated with stucco baroque, twisted columns and valuable carved wooden altars.
