Church of San Francesco in Valguarnera
The Church of San Francesco di Paola in Valguarnera Caropepe is a small place of worship in the city.
The current building was built in 1882 and dedicated to San Francesco di Paola but it is certain that in this same place there was an older place of worship dedicated to the Holy Cross, whose existence has been documented since 1716.
The building stands in the upper part of the town and overlooks a large open space.
The simple façade in living stone, raised above an imposing staircase, has a quadrangular compositional scheme delimited by flat pilasters in squared stone blocks. In the center is the entrance portal surmounted by a central opening. The façade is crowned by a triangular tympanum, whose frame is made of bricks.
The interior, with a single nave, has four side chapels.
