Guardian Angel Festival in Priolo Gargallo

The Feast of the Guardian Angel in Priolo Gargallo is the patronal feast of the city and takes place every year on October 2nd.
The celebrations traditionally begin on the first day of the triduum, September 28th, when the simulacrum of the Saint The patron saint is moved from his niche and placed on the main altar.
On the eve of the feast, a procession takes place, in which children dressed as angels take part, which accompanies the statue of the Guardian Angel to the Early Christian Basilica of Santa Foca , where the solemn Eucharistic celebration takes place.
On the day of the celebration, October 2nd, the spectacular sciuta takes place, the triumphal exit of the simulacrum accompanied by the shooting of fireworks, the throwing of colored papers, followed by the procession daytime. In the afternoon, a second procession takes place which ends, late in the evening, with the setting off of fireworks.
