Madonna del Carmine festival in Ispica

In Ispica, in the 7 days preceding and following July 16, the celebrations in honor of the Patron Saint Madonna del Carmelo take place.
The Friday before July 16, various liturgies mark the arrival of the feast and the Vicarial Pilgrimage to the presence of the relic of the Blessed Maria Crocifissa Curcio.
Day 16 July the 5 traditional masses are celebrated and, in the evening, at midnight, a procession is organized, in the presence of the civil and military authorities and devotees, which heads towards the Shrine for the floral homage to the Madonna. The liturgical celebration follows.
On the Sunday following July 16, the external feast is celebrated in which the statue of the Virgin, placed on the fercolo, is carried in procession through the city streets. Before the conclusion of the procession, the Madonna is taken to the gates of the town for the execution of a fireworks display that determines the end of the festival.
The following Sunday, the statue of the Virgin is brought out again through the streets of the town.
