Snow Festival in Polizzi Generosa

The Snow Festival in Polizzi Generosa celebrates an ancient tradition once practiced in the Sicilian mountains: that of collecting and storing snow in the winter period in the special neviere to be able to use it in the summer period to prepare fresh drinks and granitas.
The Snow Festival in Polizzi Generosa, organized by the Polizzi Generosa section of the Italian Alpine Club, traditionally takes place on the third Sunday of July and revolves around the ancient neviera di Fossa della Principessa.
On the occasion of the festival there will be an excursion to the neviera di Fossa della Principessa where it is possible to watch the preparation of the granita according to ancient natural methods.
On the occasion of the set up stands with typical local products and handicrafts, and organized folkloristic, musical and entertainment events.
