Traditions
The feast of San Michele Arcangelo in Villasmundo, Patron Saint of the village, traditionally takes place every year on the second Sunday of May. The feast of San Michele Arcangelo includes a rich liturgical program which culminates with the solemn procession of the simulacrum of the Patron Saint, placed in an artistic gilded wooden vara decorated with flowers, through the streets of the village.
On the occasion of the festivities, organized various collateral events such as entertainment and musical shows.

08:00 The ringing of bells and the firing of mortars announce the start of the day of celebration.
09:00 Tour of the band through the streets of the town.
09:30 Holy Mass.
11:00 Holy Mass.
12:00 Ringing bells and mortar shots.
Symphonic marches performed in Piazza Risorgimento.

16:30 FESTOUS EXIT OF THE SIMULACRE welcomed in the churchyard by a flurry of confetti and colored papers and PROCESSION
19:00 circa SOLEMN HOLY MASS, animated by the parish choir.
19:45 CONTINUATION OF THE PROCESSION with the participation of the civil authorities and
military, and of the committees of the Sicilian communities belonging to the national Micaelica network "The Sacred Places of the Archangel Michael".
At the end the simulacrum will be taken to the traditional "Porta Jaci" (crossroads between Via Vittorio Emanuele and Via Nuova) where it will be welcomed by a short fireworks display, he will remain there for the veneration of the faithful until midnight.
