Feast of San Nicola in Cammarata
The Feast of San Nicola in Cammarata is the patronal feast of the village and takes place on 6 December, the day of the liturgical anniversary.
On the occasion of the celebrations, a rich religious program is organised. The highlights of the festival are the floral homage to the Patron Saint by the mayor and the entire citizenry, and the evocative evening procession of the simulacrum of the Patron Saint accompanied by the brotherhoods , by the religious committees and by all the faithful.
The conclusion of the celebrations for the Patron Saint Saint Nicholas marks the beginning of the celebrations in honor of the Immaculate Virgin: after having climbed the simulacrum of Saint Nicholas into its niche, she is descended the statue of the Virgin Mary. On 8 December, the anniversary of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, the simulacrum of the Virgin is carried in procession through the streets of the village until it reaches the Church of San Vito, where it will remain until the following Sunday when it will be accompanied back to Mother Church.
